Inspiring and Developing Young People From Around the World to a Life of Leadership, Service and Innovation

For six decades, Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership has been known as one of the world's foremost youth leadership development organization. Founded in 1958 by famed actor Hugh O’Brian, HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential.

Hugh O’Brian set out to help young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change — in the home, school, workplace, and community. Now, with more than 450,000 alumni leading the way, HOBY is respected worldwide for its youth leadership programs.

Rod D. Martin has been involved with HOBY since representing his high school at the Arkansas Leadership Seminar in April 1986, and then representing his state as one of its two “Ambassadors” to that year’s International Leadership Seminar. It was there that he first met his lifelong friend Hugh O’Brian. He served on HOBY’s Board of Governors from 2006 to 2016, and works to recruit support for this vital charity.
